    Printing from Nexus One

Has anyone developed an app to print from the Nexus One? I'm thinking mostly about using a PDF viewer or Documents to Go and printing....or maybe even from a web page.

I assume I'd need to get a wireless printer (of course), but no need to do that if I can't print from phone.

    Anyone?

If I had to name my greatest strength, I guess it would be my humility. Greatest weakness, it's possible that I'm a little too awesome.

I can recommend PrinterShare. I've had it for quite some time and they keep improving it. It prints to any nearby printer, or you can specify a particular one to use. Great App. Oh ... no need for a wireless printer. It prints over the internet.

They have a free trial. My printer is not wireless, and I can print to it easily from my phone, no matter where I am. If the printer is on, printing starts immediately. If not, it places print jobs into a queue and when I turn on the printer I can choose to print them out at that time. The only complaints I have seen about PrinterShare is from someone who has an unsupported printer. My printer was supported from the beginning, but they do update from time to time to add more. Additionally, I have been at my brother's house and printed to his printer without a hitch by doing a search for nearby printers. As I said, I use it all the time, even under FroYo, without any problems.

I installed the Free Trial on my Nexus, and did a search for nearby printers, and it found nothing at all. I have an Dell Laser 1700 and a Canon iP6700 both are older printers.

My computers all print to them over the LAN.

I think you need to d/l and install the software on the host pc for the app to 'see' the LAN printer.

I think PrinterShare will work with a true LAN printer no problem, assuming it can find drivers. If you are network-sharing a USB or LPT printer via computer then maybe you'll need extra PC software like somebody said. The generic drivers worked with my Samsung multifunction printer but I haven't decided if it's useful enough to buy yet...
