Any Way To Exclude Directories From Music Search?

I'm happy with the default music app except for one thing:

Is there any way to exclude directories from being searched for by the music app?

It includes stuff like the sounds from a golf game I have, which has seemingly a hundred or more files, plus there are some other directories like this.

I suppose as a workaround, I could create a playlist and use that all the time. But then I will constantly have to edit that playlist every time I add music to my Music directory.

Power Amp music player lets you select which folder(s) your music its located. It lets you override android's stock music search function and point to specific folders instead.

So there's no file I can edit to put in "exclude search" directories for searching for media files?
Currently android searches the whole phone for media (although the "downloads" directory seems to be excluded?)

if you put a file named ".nomedia" in the directory it will be ignored by most media players.
