Definitely going to have to grab one of these apps for my trip to Europe.

Buy it, touch it, use it,
charge it,
app it, mod it, root it, format it...technologic
LookOut are free but do not backup pictures/etc

With any of them, can I turn on the scream at any given time? I misplace my phone in my house often and GPS wont help with that... scream would though.
I use lookout, and it does back up pictures, calls, and contacts. You can also turn on scream at any given time.

Theft Aware

i had Wavesecure on my Blackberry.
With my new Nexus One I installed Theft Aware for several reasons. Among these:

- Complete invisibility of Theftaware
- No recurring fees (just once 10 Bucks for buying it)
- no third party server in asia used (like with wavesecure) therefor no international sms costs
- i can rescue my contacts, sms and so on

i am also looking forward to version 2.0 which is announced at www.theftaware.com
you will be able to locate your mobile via the gms cell data where gps is not available.
a great feature i think.

well - and - version 2.o will be free for me as existing customer

hi - i think uninstall protection by wavesecure is a big joke. imagine one found the phone and detects wavesecure. he will not bother with uninstalling anything but will just delete all the contents on the phone together with the tool. the only way to make an anti theft app really secure is to really hide it. not mentioning any tool names that support such funcionality but we all know there is one :-)

I tried Preyphone Tracker on my phone:
- itís completely visible
- Lacks important functions
- doesnít work on some phones (as some people commented)
- itís free and you get what you pay for: low functionality, backbreaking handling, somehow just buggy work

such random acts of kindness are a million times ... nay a billions times the PLUS than the person doing them thinks they are. Indeed you don't know what grief you have spared them. Good on you mate. I can't say about Karma and fairness, but strong is what we make each other and a happy neighbor is one less likely to slit your throat.

Wave Secure is the best on the market. I've had it since my first Android phone. Easy to use, uninstall protection, backs up all data. Cool icon as well.

I have lookout and it found my phone within 0 meters. I was just testing out the accuracy and scream function. I would prefer a louder scream noise. I may try one of the other security apps also.
