    Installation Aborted.

So I flashed the .img and everything. And I flash the CM rom with no problem, but when I try to do the modaco desire rom, I always get "Installation aborted."

This is what my screen shows

    Install : alpha-r21-update-modacocustomrom-nexusone-desire-withadditions-signed.zip ?
    Press Trackball to confirm.
    any key to abort.

    Install from sdcard...
    Finding update package...
    Opening update package...
    E: Can't open /sdcard/alpha-r21-update-modacocustomrom-nexusone-desire-withadditions-signed.zip
    (bad)

    Installation aborted.

    download a different one.

You know the desire ROM is an alpha ROM, correct? It really isn't intended for use as your main ROM. With the amount of problems you are having you should think about sticking with CM

I just want to try it out. Do you recommend using ROM manager?

YES. spend the money and get the pro version and have at it. It will do everything automatically for you.

don't forget when doing a new ROM to click the WIPE and BACKUP. When updating or adding to a ROM only BACKUP is neccessary not wiping.

I always wipe, but is backup always necessary? And I always get a problem with ROM Manager, when I click the first option to flash the image I get an error.

if you don't backup your previous ROM then you always start from scratch just wiping and flashing
