How much did they want to charge? I mean if it's $50 I'll pay $50 to salvage a $600 phone.

    196$ to replace your MOBO
280$ to send you a replacement unit.

I've already excepted the fact that I'm screwed. If I get another, im not flashing squat. Froyo with it's wifi tether is fine for me.

Yes. You keep your battery, SD card, and back. You send in your phone and they charge you 280$ since it's not under warranty.

Just spoke with HTC. I'm sending my phone back sometime this weekend after I receive my prepaid shipping label.

The rep stated that if my problem is not related to Rooting or Unlocking the device, then the repairs will be free. Rooting does not automatically void the warranty. It's all circumstantial. If I were you, I would go ahead and give them a call and have them look at the phone.

I just got my phone back from HTC. Turned it on and it won't boot. Sending it right back.

Spoke with the HTC rep. They are not charging credit cards for repairs anymore UNLESS you are requesting a replacement of your device or if it's out of warranty.

Have you tried the following steps:

    1) Remove battery and unplug from charger.
    2) Press power button for 15 sec.
    3) Replace battery first then plug into charger.
    4) Power up.

I have had the same issue with my N1 and these steps seem to have fixed it.
