OK, The bug got me. Since i cant do crap with my main phone (Cliq XT, Dont laugh to hard guys), So I picked up a N1. I have a problem with it tho, It says No service. So heres my train of thought. ROOT THE Beast and load CM6 on it, then Prey that it will fix the problem. Now a few questions.

    1. Do i need to be able to get to Android Market for anything for this. ( Yes i kinda glanced over the OP. just overwhelmed )

    2. I did a factory reset on the phone so its just plain jane 2.2

I don't think a custom ROM is going to magically give you service. Why doesn't the phone have service now?

I followed the instructions and my phone still works. Now to play with all the changes. I hope the battery is better. I am amazed at more space available on phone.

The first time it boots, it takes a while to get to the home screens.

    Subsequent boots are much faster.

This was also true when I upgraded from stock 2.1 to 2.2

I had that same issue as well.... It takes a wipe/clear of everything to fix that. I think it has to do with old system settings laying around.

You definitely have to do a "wipe" the first time you install Cyanogenmod over stock FroYo.

If you update from something like CM6 RC3 to final, no wipe required.

EDIT: Ok I did a factory reset... Do I need to install CyanogenMod again? And if so, what should i Do differently?

EDIT 2.0: Ok, GOT it finally, thanks for telling me to wipe, I think the factory reset did the trick

EDIT 3.0: GREAT thread helped me (a complete n00b) out a ton!!
