Well that is a very good question. I am baffled myself. Now I am also waiting for the answer

Why can your company armored your Nexus One? (I think this is a goofy question) It surely be a very tough smartphone.

You shouldnt have a problem. I flashed CM6 on my old G1 without a sim card in it and it worked fine. It had an option to use Wifi instead of a data signal to sync with google. I think it would be the same for the N1.
Thanks. I was all set to take the plunge but figured I'd ask, just to be sure. I think I know enough of the procedure to be dangerous. Here we go.

Welp, all went well till this morning. Turned the phone back on and was met with an onslaught of FCs. Tried the latest nightly--same thing. Flashed a wildmonk BFS kernel. Same thing. Went back to stock 2.2. Off to try eViL's NXSense v.1.15.

Did you try turning your VM heap size to 24?

Fixed permissions and VM heap solves most FC issues.

Yeppers. First thing I tried. Went through all of the VMs. Everything was good till I shut the phone off. I was tickled pink until I woke it up this morning. Everything seemed to work and was much more responsive before that. Right now the stock 2.2 is lacking for me. Sometimes I have to tap 3+ times to start something or tic a setting. It's sluggish compared to CYs Rom. I can't live with stock now that I've had a taste of custom. I'll give it another go later. I was flabbergasted at the number of tweaks and extras in it. Amazing work.

I took the plunge, thanks to Sheanzy. The instructions you gave was really simply and easy, the most easiest I have seen. Thank you!

I have noticed one thing with CM6, is the speed which I like very much. Also, it doesn't seem to be a glitchy when scrolling the drawer, or home screens.

Now, if I can get to enough courage to flash a kernal.... lol

    Thanks again, Sheanzy!

Congrats! Flashing a kernel is as easy as flashing ROM. Just don't forget to nandroid backup first.

    P/s: Flashing radio is scary...

I'd love to be able to use my N1 but the environment is too hostile. Besides the jostles and bumps there's the danger of caustic chemicals. They will replace issued phones but I doubt they'd replace the N1. Even if they would, can you still buy the N1?
I think it is better to use the issued phone because N1 is a collector item now :D

OK, you talked me into it. Just like the first time. Never would have initially tried it if I hadn't read your post. Couple of ??:

    What's the latest stable ROM?
Do I have to update the radio?

You're welcome and thank you for the nice words! Flashing a Kernel is just as easy, if not easier. There are instructions for that as well and if you're nervous or scared, just send me a msg on GTalk and I'll run you through the appropriate steps.

Cyanogen 6 STABLE is the latest stable ROM. I use Cyanogen but there are plenty of other great ROMS out there.

You need the latest FroYo radio flashed on your phone in order to use Cyanogen. Go to settings and ABOUT PHONE and let me know what radio you currently have.
