Flashing Rom and I get a "(bad)" error
I'm trying to flash the Cyanogen CM 6 RC2 Rom, I've followed the steps on the instructions but I keep getting the same error when I try and flash it in the zip file. It just says "(bad)" then installation aborted.
Anyone know how to fix this?
I'm incredibly frustrated. I've downloaded the file 2 times now (thinking there was some error downloading). But it's not making a difference.
Thanks for any help you can offer!

Also, anyone know where I can get the Froyo radio as a zip to flash? I can only find it as an .IMG file, and when I try to zip it myself, it just comes up with the same error the "(bad) Installation aborted."

Careful with radio, you can brick phone if done incorrectly.

The frf50 is the latest. Make sure you know what you are doing RESEARCH!!!
You didn't give any phone info or why you need a new radio.
Are you rooted? How did you root?
Not sure if it is needed always and especially for what you are doing but check usb debugging and debugging notify in Settings/Applications/Development
Did you click on fix permissions?

Ahh, sorry about that. Here's the details: I'm rooted already, been rooted running Cyanogen 5.6, then 5.7 and now 5.8 over the past 7 months.
I haven't flashed any radios before. I've been waiting for Cyanogen's stable version with Froyo, but I'm tired of waiting all freaking summer while every other android phone gets froyo and I'm still in 2.1 with the 'official' google phone, so I'm just going to try the release candidate. The XDA instructions said I needed to flash the radio-4.06.00.12_7.img
Sorry for venting! I shouldn't have done this on Friday the 13th.

What recovery image are you using?
The one link above gives you cyans dl page for a .zip radio. If you are familiar with flashing zips from sd card, no problem.
I would upgrade to 2.2 and try the latest nightly listed as passion:
[Nightlies] Discussion of Nightlies - CyanogenMod Forum
Or try a stable Modaco r21: 02/Jul r21 - MoDaCo Custom ROM for Nexus One with Online Kitchen - Froyo FRF91 - Android @ MoDaCo
Try the first r21 in the dl's list.
Both roms work well for me.

Ok, excellent. That zip file for the radio seems to have worked, but I'm still getting the same error when I try to flash the rom.
I click the trackball to confirm I want to flash it, it says:
Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:Can't open /sdcard/update-cm-6.0.0-N1-RC2-signed (1).zip
(bad)
Installation aborted.

Any ideas?

Rename the zip "update" no quotes nothing else and try to reflash.

Or, try one of the roms above. Still rename it update. No. Zip.

Got it! Thanks for your help!
The renaming as update.zip is a helpful tip, but I figured out what was happening -- for some reason Google Chrome stopped downloading the Zip at 40 mb -- and I downloaded it 3 times! 3 times it stopped around 40 mb. (It's supposed to be a 65 mb file) Wtf!? I tried Internet Explorer and watched it download to 65 with no problem. I'm blown away that Chrome failed me three times in a row.
It installed fine, but now after it boots up, the Android set up screen shows up (it says "touch the android to begin") and when I touch the android, it turns from green to white, but doesn't do anything.

The buttons all work, I can change the lanaguage or emergency dial, it's just not taking my click when I touch the little green Android! It even turns white, but doesn't do anything afterwards.
