Thanks

I'll be home later to try this, in fact I think I found a nice tutorial for anyone interested:
First steps:
How to Root Android 2.2.1 (FRG83) on Google Nexus One? | Jaxov
Then run the rooting program here:
[APP]SuperOneClick v1.5 (Root, Unroot, Enable Non-Market App, Get UNLOCK code) - xda-developers

After we are rooted I believe its just a matter of downloading titanium back u (to back up), then rom manager (flash recovery and download/install custom roms)?
Excited all over again :D

thanks for your complete guide
I root my device.it shows on comuter that your device is root
Is there is an other to check weather it done or not
Your welcome, glad i could help :D
Besides the computer, I think you could always download an app that requires root (like titanium backup, rom manager...), they only work when you're rooted. They will also let you know if you're not rooted

You're welcome :D I feel so helpful!
As for which rom, I haven't played with alot myself, I've only used Cyanogen (I chose this one since I was new to flashing ROMs, and since this is the most popular, I knew there would be more support)
Cyanogen is a great advance over stock
And I haven't encountered a problem with my install (just be sure to back up regularly)
Then there is the Sense UI port "mocado rom"... the newly popular MIUI rom and it goes ON
Here is a list of the more popular ones:

What I do is I use rom manager to download the ROM and also to install it. THis worked for me in 2.2... but now using the same method, it just keeps wiping my data and does not install!!
Sorry I can't you anymore, I've made my phone non-functional now. It is probably best for you to do a little more research (beyond just me) for this.
I'm also seeking assistance to try fixing it now... PLease be careful proceeding!
