    well your buddy clearly doesent know what he's doing.

    With 2.2 you can root the easy way, install an app and press a button
    With 2.2.1 you can still root, but have to do so the old fashioned way, which will void your warantee

    Read this Tutorial: root without unlock
    And rooting this way does not void warranty, because you dont unlock the bootloader

    There is a 2.2.1 rooted stock already. I just download and flash it. I guess you will have to root your phone first to do it, but that's is extremely easy at this point.
