    attempted nandroid backup FAIL

    Hi guys

Having a bit of a problem here. I have unlocked the bootloader and then using superboot I have rooted. Now when I try and access recovery it goes to the android with warning triangle over his head screen and remains. Only way out is to remove bat then reboot the phone or hold vol up and power but then my only option is to reboot the phone clear partition etc... in blue font. I just can't seem to get to the green font menu to make my backup.

Note that the phone works fine and all is ok. I merely want to do a full nandroid backup so that I have a complete backup before I install custom ROMs.

    Any help is much appreciated.

Please also note that I have searched this but most posts out there are relating to people trying to recover having problems not people wanting to backup. Don't want you good people to think I am posting out of laziness

    Regards,

    Hey Vantgo,

Do you have Superuser? as you will need that to get access to any Rooted application.

I suspect that is your problem.

Hard to say for sure, but I would start there.

After you get SU it will grant access to all rooted menus.

    Hope that helps,

    Gezza.

    Not sure why that is.

I also copy my entire SD - Card to my Computer as a back up.

Perhaps that might help, to know you have your card backed up.

Do you Have ROM Manager, it's a paid app.

I only have a few paid apps, that is one.

But it also allows you to back up and restore.

Just trying to get you ideas.

Yeah I got the free version and have done a backup fine with that. It is just really bugging me how I can't get to this (should be piece of cake) menu. I can only get into that bloody blue recovery 3e menu. And the retarded thing about that is that it has an option to extract update.zip which is no longer on the bloody thing lol that was something I used to get upto date froyo when vodafone were taking the piss holding up their release.

Sounds to me that you never flashed a custom recovery. Have you tried using Rom Manager to flash Clockwork?

Also there is a Free version of Rom Manager too that can be used to flash a recovery.

Hi guys right I tried the clockwork ROM manager thought it wasn't working but it is just fine only weird thing is that I still can't reboot into recovery manually or by selecting reboot into recovery in the ROM manager. I am just concerned at how I can't appear to recover if sh!t goes really wrong

Anyway thanks to Gezza and SliceBurgSlim you are splendid chaps!

nope i still can't even get to nandroid or the green recovery menu. I am still stuck with android system recovery <3e> in blue not the Clockwork mod recover menu in green.

I can perform a backup through the rom manager but and i am sure i can apply it through rom manager i just find it unacceptable that I cant access the manual the green recovery menu with nandroid etc....

don't know what the bloody problem is
