    Passimg method
    1. download the file from this link [ROM] Passion_Google_WWE_2.16.1700.1_FRG33_MFG_Shipment_ ROM - xda-developers

    2. rename that file passimg.zip

    3. place that file on the root of your SD card (not in any folders)

    4. turn off you phone and reboot into bootloader by holding down the volume down key at the same time as power button.

    5. you should wait a second for the SD card to mount then you will be prompted to flash the passimg file accept and wait for the file to flash.

    6. after that you should be all good just reboot and reinstall everything.

    thanks for posting this.
I am considering following this guide to root my phone.

I wish only to gain root access though, I do not wish to flash a custom ROM.
Is there anything that I should adjust to accommodate my goal?
Also, should the exploit fail, or rooting fail, what is the worst case scenario? Can you brick your phone attempting to root?

What exactly is happening at step 5?
You should get a blue bar in the upper right corner, which shows the progress for checking the passing file. If you don't see that, then your file isn't being found (probably incorrectly named). If you see the bar, but the file fails to install, then it's probably a corrupt file...

OK, just as heads up, I'm abandoning the script idea.
The apk version of Gingerbreak works (tested it a few times).
The Superoneclick version is working (I believe).

I don't see the need for another simple method, and I think those other approached are a lot cleaner than anything I could do...

That's to bad danger-rat. Thank you though for the written method!

So the APK package is working?

I've been seeing a lot about having a clean SD card. Is it recommended to have a clean SD card first before running the exploit whether it be APK or manually. Or is it only in certain situations where it is a requirement?

I used the apk a few times yesterday, and it worked great!

I believe the reason for the clean SD is because it has wiped a few SD cards by mistake, so if you value your data be careful (never wiped my card with 5 uses of the apk)...

thats awesome! i'm glad to hear that it is working! Now I don't know which method to use. I feel as though doing it manually will be beneficial to learning about the android OS. But the ease of an APK is hard to resist!

Hmm.. I suppose I do have some data on my SD card that I wouldn't want to lose.
I know this will sound like a stupid question, but does the data lose include applications that have been moved to the SD card?
