so everything after step 12 i just ignore?
This is a discussion on Simple SDK setup guide within the Nexus One Development & Hacking forums, part of the Nexus One category; so everything after step 12 i just ignore?...
i have a nexus one 2.3.6 stock ... need to unlock and root the device .. can some one advice how??
would the 2.3.4 unlock and rooting method work on it??
How and when did you get 2.3.6?
Can I get it too...how?
But, may be not...since rooting my Internal Memory on N1 is always near or less than 20mb. this is what i had before rooting. Why did i do it? I don't know.
First u unlock your bootloader by fastboot method even before this just install sdk and then flash su zip

Take a read here, and let me know if you have any questions...
If you have a stock ROM, you can just flash the update over the top (and flash su at the same time, if you want to keep root).
If you have a custom ROM you will either have to flash an update specifically for that ROM, or wipe and install a new ROM.
If you are rooted, you have a lot more options for recovering that lost space. As specific questions, and I'll try and give you more specific answers...
- I just rooted some months back per your instructions. My N1 shows:
How to find out my ROM ?
- Twice i got a message, two times, for 'system update'.
But after following the instructions to 'install' it begins the operation and shows something is getting installed but even before reaching 50%, it hangs showing just a triangle with an exclamation mark in it and a green android symbol outside.
- i try to power off after several minutes...but it does not.
- then i take the battery out and reinsert to start.
- back at the top 2.3.4 !!!
