super one click doesnt work on Gingerbread?

I had my N1 rooted by using the super one click, I DL the Gingerbread update but now the super one click method of rooting will not work. It goes just so far and just stops and hangs. Anyone else having this problem? Any help will be welcomed.
    Thanks,
    Vinny

At the moment, nothing works on Gingerbread. Waiting for a new exploit to be found...

But a hard root is always an option.

Even hard root is a challenge...
Unlocking bootloader - no problem (done a long time ago)
Installing custom recovery - no problem
Getting recovery to stick - no problem (by flashing a zip to delete the two files)
Getting su to stick is a bit trickier...

Still playing, but I've gone back to CM7 for now...

    EDIT:
efrant from xda put a zip together to get su from recovery. Same idea I was following, except he did a better job of setting the permissions (where I was struggling)...

Once you flash recovery, you need to boot straight into recovery from the bootloader menu options. Don't reboot your phone, our you will lose recovery. From recovery, flash the following 2 files. 1 will fix recovery so you don't lose it at reboot (by me), the other will install su (by efrant)...

I was wondering if anyone with the new Gingerbread update have tried rooting their phone with any of the old visionary apps. I know they didn't work with the last few updates but maybe they will work with Gingerbread. Worth a try??? If anyone has tried let us know.
    Thanks

Probably won't work. The reason they stopped working was because Google fixed the weakness that was being exploited...

I tried Z4root on GB, just for the heck of it. Made the phone crash. Fine after reboot. No root possible with Z4, thats for sure
