Cyanogen Mods
The famous Android Moder, Cyanogen is working diligently on a powerful ROM for the Nexus. It is currently in Beta 3. If you are brave, capable of reading, and don't mind voiding your warranty you can try the new Goodies. Here is a link to the XDA developers forum where the stuff is posted.
On a side note, I fully plan on rooting but have not yet. I will wait until the Cyanogen build is stable. That is just a personal preference. Feel free to take control of your own device and make it yours.

I rooted my N1 12 hours ago and flashed the CyanogenMod 5.0 beta 3
I made a Benchmark with BenachmarkPi after and "just" got a 2700, same with the default ROM, lol.
on the benchmarkpi site they got around 1000 with the beta 2? Why?
Edit // it's because of JIT which has been removed

I've got the Beta 3. Seems very stable. Additional features are nice... especially tethering. Phones a little bit faster as well...

I have been up and the down the road of Moding since my last post.
There is a great Home screen Loader mod that auto-rotates the home screen to landscape mode. Try it out!

Radio Image
Hey, I just installed the cyanogen mod last night using this ( Full Update Guide - Nexus One Firmware to CyanogenMod - CyanogenMod Wiki ) wiki tutorial. I was looking at the xda forums page ( [ROM] CyanogenMod 5.0 for Nexus One (EXPERIMENTAL) [02/02/2010 / 5.0-beta4] - xda-developers ) and had a question, no where in the wiki did it say anything about the radio image. Do I need it? and can I install it now that I've gone through that tutorial or is there a certain way that I have to install it (order wise). Thanks in advance

I installed it via "fastboot flash radio radio-ERE27.img".

thanks, went ahead and flashed the radio image. Got another question, anyone else having the problem of get a few bars to no bars when 3g is turned on, and full bars when 2g is turned on (3g off)? I tried several areas in my house, where i didn't move the phone and tried it, same results.
