    ROM Manager

I found and easy way to Flash the ROM this takes out many steps and you don't have to reboot your N1 as often. This app saved me...look for ROM Manager in the market.

I'm with you on that! It's so tempting to do it, but I'm worried if some hardware failure(broken screen, speaker phone goes out, etc.) would give out and I have to do a warranty exchange, HTC will turn down my request due to rooting; then I'll be out of luck. I already shelled out amount of cash on this thing. So, not today. I'll wait til google pushed out new updates with goodies attached to it.

I don't feel the need to root. My N1 does what I want it to do anyways. It's fast enough, has enough memory, so why risk it? For colored trackballs? My N1 doesn't need blue trackballs.

    Risk what? :D

Seriously though, if I had bought directly from Google, I would not have done it either. But since I bought it from a horrible company that went out of business a few days after I purchased it, I don't think I won't be able to claim any warrantee anyway... I have no place to turn to... so in my case it wouldn't make a difference either way.

But now that I have rooted, I can honestly say that the advantages are more than just blue balls, I don't particularly need those either :rofl3:

Anyway, rooting is a personal choice, nobody is twisting your arm to do it

the instruction shows you to save an image before you flash the rom, im pretty sure I can take it back to a locked boot loader, I just don't have the blue trackballs to try it.

You can always reload the original Android OS but I'm sure I've read somewhere that you can not "re-lock" your phone.
