The tmobile phone I had first I waited a couple weeks but the ATT phone I did the first day. If your new to android take a week to get used to the phone, the OS and keep reading on the forums .

That should give plenty of time to find any defects if any exist. Check out squaretrade for insurance after rooting

Thanks. I've had a G1 for about a year, so Android is nothing new. I might have to try rooting later.

You should root when you know you are 100% comfortable with the phone, and most likely going to keep it.

I wouldn't say that rooting affects selling/resell price.... because if you know any phone junkies, they would most likely want a rooted Nexus anyways. Buttt, i'd say give at least 2 weeks to test all the functions and make sure there isn't any thing wrong.

I really don't care about breathing light.... But i do care about battery life. Back when I had it on, my average battery life was about 5 hours from FULL charge on average use.

Now I can squeeze out about 7-8 if I am frugal with my twitter.... Until I buy a extra battery or get a charging brick or something, I don't think I'll be able to use the trackball successions again.

Dropped my phone from waist level to the ground today! I thought I tasted my heart for a second as it flew up into my throat... lol. There it lied face down on the ground, I was scared to pick it up, in fear I would see a cracked glass. Thank goodness, it only took a scratch where it hit next to the power button, luckily did not have the cracked screen that some people experienced. Whew, close call!!!

You must didn't have a case on it? If not, please get one. Lol. They don't add much weight to the phone. I only use my phone naked when I'm at home, but thats only because I have carpet.

At home? Not even then for me. After having an iPhone, I'm paranoid about it even just sitting on my desk. That back cover scratched so easily. It's killing me not having a case on this right now.

well not to continue the hijacking but i can't use the phone naked. I have the Innocase II on it and the thickness is perfect. The phone slips through my hands too easy trying to txt laying in bed.

But did it get killed though? Also I roll with my nexus naked. I just hate cases like that. No drops or scratches, I don't drop phones too often. Keep it in secure pockets & always hold it with a python grip.

Hey guys! I'm new to this forum and you guys seem like really nice/helpful people.

I'm a complete noob with this rooting stuff and I have some questions that are probably really dumb haha

    1. When updates/new versions of Cyanogen come out do you have to repeat all the rooting steps?
    2. What does "flashing" mean?

Thanks for the help guys, I'm really leaning towards rooting but I'm just scared something's going to go wrong haha.

    1. Cyanogen actually has a program called CM updater that allows you to go to that app and look for newest update, and it'll do it automatically for you. It wasn't available at first. But now it works for N1!!

    2. Flash is the act of installing the operating system or part of the operating system on the phone. It is equivalent to updating BIOS on your motherboard, that process is called flashing as well.
