You might try to get the new version too, Alpha 15. I saw it on XDA last night. They're updating really fast over there, I wouldn't doubt it if they were able to get the beta version out soon. It's a lot more stable then when it first came out!

Ok I finally rooted my phone. One quick question. If I decide to go back to my nandroid backup will all my settings be gone. When doing a wipe should I wipe both the data/factory reset and the Dalvik-cache. Thanks. I am going to give the alpha 15 desire rom a try.

I have only been doing data/factory reset wipe regularly, though I have done it before where I wiped all 4 selections. It didn't hurt anything.

Nandroid backup back to Stock Rom gave me problems. I lost my recovery.img, and everything. However, now I have been able to Nandroid back to Custom ROM and switch from custom rom to custom rom without any problems. Everything is backed up on nandroid, settings, apps, everything. I come back to a Nandroid backup point, like I never left at all!

My backup is of the stock rom. Are you saying that if I try to restore to this I might have some issues. Not sure what you mean. Thanks

Uh oh. I seem to have accidentally deleted my nandroid backup of the original ROM. Is there an original ROM floating around in case I need to flash back to OEM?

I had no problems going to Stock ROM backup point on Nandroid. It was going back into Amon RA recovery that was an issue. For some reason after I returned to Stock ROM, it wouldn't let me back into Recovery mode. I kept getting the Exclamation Android. But going back to the Stock ROM, no problemo.

But i agree its much nicer on this forum than most!

Thinking about trying Modaco Desire again.... Really miss the phone/contacts app. And the flashplayer on browser.
i might try that one out too, it looks pretty awesome.

i'm completely new to all of this so i'll see how it goes haha. i'm scared of doing a few add ons on xda because i don't want to have a nexus brick lol.
Now that everything is setup properly on the phone, like I said, the flashing part is easy. You'll start to mess around with it like everyone else. Just don't lose respect for it, as that's the time that it will come back and bite you.

    Steps:

    1. Download Modaco's Desire Rom from XDA
    2. Put Rom on SD card in same place you put the CM and Gapps zip files
    3. Turn off phone
    4. Boot into Recovery mode (Volume Down held down and Power up)
    5. Select Recovery
    6. Select Backup/Restore
    7. Select Nandroid backup
    8. Back out to Main menu and select Wipe
    9. Select Wipe Data/Factory reset (something like that)
    10. Select Flash from zip on SD card
    11. Choose alpha14-update-modacocustomrom-nexusone-desire-signed (or whatever version you downloaded of Desire Rom)
    12. Wait until done, power down or reboot now
    13. That should boot you into Desire ROM, first time I use new ROM, I always notice it is slower than usual. It will not have the cool Nexus/Cyanogen logo, but HTC on White Screen will pop-up. Wait a little bit, and it'll come up!
yeah, i'm going to try that out. i'm just trying to do the track ball light succession mod, and also the undervolting mod hehe
