YOu're not designating the partition that the recovery image should go...

Rename 'recovery-RA-nexus-v1.7.0-cyan.img to recovery. Makes it easier.

    fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

recovery twice, one to designate recovery partition (Do not type out the whole thing 'recovery-RA-nexus-v1.7.0-cyan.img'), second to designate the file name.

You did post that on xda too, right? :P
"unknown partition" is because, like the others said, you didn't write a second "recovery" right before "recovery-RA-nexus-v1.7.0-cyan.img"

    APPS2SD WORKS!!! THANKS @cyanogen THANKS @Amon_RA!!!

Edit:I used Partition SD, and left it alone after that. Did not upgrade to Ext 3 or Ext 4.
    Rebooted
Once partitioned, selection to enable Apps2SD became available to me, made sure it is checked.
    Voila! Apps2SD
    Uninstalled Seesmic
    Reinstalled
    Opened App
    Works

@neonmonster, thanks for heads up on Class. I was able to cancel, went to neighborhood Fry's Outlet and picked up a Class 4 8GB for $17.00 bucks ($19 with tax)
