I know I'm really slow to get on board, but I REALLY wanted the himem feature! So I finally got around to taking the plunge today and am now officially on the dark side. I guess I was just a little intimidated by the process and potential bricking; turns out it's really not nearly as complicated as it sounds. That is, as long as you read up and follow the procedures outlined.

Starting from scratch, I backed up everything (apps w/ Astro, contacts, entire SD card to the pc... EVERYTHING. Then I followed this method:

    1. Unlocked- Android SDK Tools
    2. Rooted- Superboot for EPE54B with himem enabled
    3. Installed latest RA recovery image- RA-nexus-v1.7.0
    4. Booted to recovery & performed nandroid backup.
    5. Flashed latest radio- EPE54B
    6. Booted to recovery & did a full wipe...every option available.
    7. Toggled USB-MS in recovery & copied Rom & Gapps to the SD card.
    7. Flashed latest CM Rom- Cyanogenmod For Nexus One V5.0.5.1
    8. Flashed latests Gapps- for EPE54B
    9. Booted it up...it lives! (breathe deep sigh of relief...)
    10. Go through setup process again & let it sync.
    11. Reformated 16g card (just for fun...fresh start).
    12. Reinstalled my old apps from market & copied relevant stuff from SD backup back to card.
    13.Themed- O))) - Version 0.05.2
    14.Modded- Trackball Notifications in Succession [v 0.4]

    WooHoo!!
I probably did way more than needed to arrive at this point, but I wanted to be 100% sure it was a squeaky clean install. It's nice and perky again and with loads of added features...I'm digging this a lot.

Now I just need to do another nandroid backup so I can play with some other roms!! Thanks for being such a good influence, N1forums!

I agree. Sense UI is awesome. I was using it for a few days then went back to the stock rom and lasted for about 5 minutes. The stock rom looks very bland and boring compared to Sense. Even though the Desire A17 has a few bugs I would rather have that than the stock rom.

I switched back to CM because of problem #2 . At least I got to see how wonderful the future might be like.

Nope. I'm on 3G. If you manually enter the APN, data will work with T-Mobile. I got it working. Let me see if I can find the APN codes again for you.

I have t-mobile and i received my nexus one a week and a half ago. It's definitely the best phone available. It flies, but i was unsure if i wanted to root it or not. I used to own a rooted g1, and thanks to cyanogen, that phone really met my expectations. I just rooted my phone two days ago mainly because i wanted different color trackball notifications. I am very impressed since rooting my phone, more RAM became available, i receive better reception somehow, and the ability to control your phone's CPU usage is vital. I underclock my phone most of the time... 384 mhz or 528mhz for the day. Or when I am near the charger, I clock it to the maximum and enjoy games such as exZeus.
