Can somebody explain the new recovery (Amon_RA 1.7.0)? Does it wipe everything? How complicated of an install is it? Rooting was hair-raising enough and I can't afford anymore grey hairs.

Easy to install & wipes nothing. Just replaces your current recovery image. You can use terminal emulator to install it. Easy as it gets. That's what I did. You can use this video as a guide.

I guess I was just a little intimidated by the process and potential bricking; turns out it's really not nearly as complicated as it sounds. That is, as long as you read up and follow the procedures outlined.

Starting from scratch, I backed up everything (apps w/ Astro, contacts, entire SD card to the pc... EVERYTHING. Then I followed this method:

    1. Unlocked- Android SDK Tools
    2. Rooted- Superboot for EPE54B with himem enabled
    3. Installed latest RA recovery image- RA-nexus-v1.7.0
    4. Booted to recovery & performed nandroid backup.
    5. Flashed latest radio- EPE54B
    6. Booted to recovery & did a full wipe...every option available.
    7. Toggled USB-MS in recovery & copied Rom & Gapps to the SD card.
    7. Flashed latest CM Rom- Cyanogenmod For Nexus One V5.0.5.1
    8. Flashed latests Gapps- for EPE54B
    9. Booted it up...it lives! (breathe deep sigh of relief...)
    10. Go through setup process again & let it sync.
    11. Reformated 16g card (just for fun...fresh start).
    12. Reinstalled my old apps from market & copied relevant stuff from SD backup back to card.
    13.Themed- O))) - Version 0.05.2
    14.Modded- Trackball Notifications in Succession [v 0.4]

I probably did way more than needed to arrive at this point, but I wanted to be 100% sure it was a squeaky clean install. It's nice and perky again and with loads of added features...I'm digging this a lot.

Now I just need to do another nandroid backup so I can play with some other roms!! Thanks for being such a good influence, N1forums!
Great writeup! I have one question to my buddies here who know everything: what is the advantage of step 2? (I mean installing the Superboot for EPE54B with himem enabled). I never did that, and I don't seem any worse off... would you guys recommend installing the Superboot still?

Anyone else had any problems rebooting after an apparently successful root and install of Cyanagen for N1?

Everything completes sucessfully when I flash the SD card images but upon reboot, I get the :nexusx: with the unlocked padlock below it for ever.

I have tried re-downoading all the files and have checked the md5 checksums on all the downloads and I've tried to reflash about five times now.

It can boot to fastboot and shows *** UNLOCKED *** at the top of the screen
RA-nexus-v1.7.0 loads and allows me to flash:

    update-cm- and

Both report completed "Install from sdcard complete.", however I still can't boot.

    Any ideas?
