Nexus One getting Gingerbread in "a few weeks"
We heard several rumors of the Nexus One Android 2.3 rolling out this morning, but with a recent tweet from Reto Meier, Android Developer at Google puts the the rumors to rest. According to the tweet we can expect the official release in "a few weeks". Either way it looks like we'll see the update just before the new year!

So when will an "update.zip" be available?
I am still pretty new to the phone world. My Nexus wasn't updating OTA when I got it so I had to update.zip from 2.1 to 2.2.
Even though OTA won't start on N1 for a few weeks, will we be able to manually update to 2.3 via the update.zip method?
Thanks in advance for replies.

When the Actual OTA hits, the Update.zip will likely follow shortly after.
