    Honeycomb To Have Min. Requirements?

Honeycomb To Have Minimum Specs; Require HD and Dual Core

Rumor have it that our much loved Android OS has adopted something brought on by Microsoft’s WP7 system and now we might be seeing a minimum specification requirement for all devices. Word on the street is Google might be making dual core a minimum requirement for Honeycomb based devices. The word doesn’t stop there; many users have expressed their dislike for manufactures lowballing of screen resolution, and so Google took that on as well, and required manufactures to put a minimum of a 720P display. This means the two most commonly lowballed features and which I think are also the most important are now being controlled by Google.

Now this is still just in rumor form, but seeing all these new tablets having high resolution displays and dual core processors, I have no reason not to believe it. Are there any more minimum requirements that you can think of which would be necessary for all Android tablets to be perfect?

Can I think I'm going to call BS on this one because I know that honeycomb is mostly for tablets not phones but will be releaced on phones so that would mean that the nexus S will not be getting a single ota I think not that would make not sence unless google make a dual core phone like anytime soon.

So all in all IMHO :bsflag:

There's no phone that are not being released w/o Tegra 2 Processor. The LG phone, the Motorola phone, the next Samsung phone, so there could be some truth to it, however that would end the Nexus S pretty quick......unless Google has in the works a Tegra 2 phone to showcase Honeycomb or Ice Cream.......

    OOOOOOOOO (scary tone)

But I think you're right. I can't see this for phones, but more so for Tablets. Which for me, still, sucks.

    Gingerbread??

And yeah I call BS on this as well. There is no way google is giving up on the Nexus S that fast...

I believe this requirement is only for the tablets. Smart phones will be a different story..

I think its a great step forward for tablets, rather than many of the fails out there. However, if gingerbread is for tablets, what about regular phones?

    apparently,

"Don’t panic, though, because we’ve heard time and time again – from a trusted source of our own – that Google’s going to create a less-capable fork of Honeycomb to work well with low-end tablet devices and mobile handsets"

But still, if other androids are getting a lower end tablet os, I hope they work it out.

I think this is the truth, we have all seen that honeycomb is aimed at tablets, what if it is ONLY for tablets and another version will follow soon after with a similar build to update phones to the same area of android as the tablets?

It's a smart move to start separating the two.

It makes sense as we are never going to have a phone as big as a tablet nor a tablet as small as a phone so why try and make an OS that bridges a non existant gap? If they are smart they will draw a line in the sand now rather than trying to explain why this version does this and that version does that later on!
