Nexus one - questions
Dear N1-Forum Members,
I would be VERY thankful if you could help me out with the following questions.
I'm new to N1, but NOT to HTC, as I have a fabulous HD2, which is too big to be used as a cellphone, but GREAT as a PDA.
I'm at my wit's end with the following N1-related questions:
1- HOW can I DISCONNECT Internet without disconnecting my cellphone at the same time (which goes via aeroplane modus)? With Internet constantly running, the battery dies down in more or less 4 hours full speed. I also would not like to slow down the 3G quality to a 2G one.
2- Where can I find the compass and HOW can I create a Direct Access to it?
3- Does the N1 have sort of a file like FILE EXPLORER (as the HD2 has)? HOW does the N1 make up for that missing file? BETTER: How can I "view" (and pop into) all the files on my N1 and SD?
3.a. Is there a file like MyDocuments on the N1?
4- As to the SD card: HOW can I access my SD card? There is NO way to open it and to choose any item from it.
4.a. I can view my SD-stored pictures and listen to my SD-stored music (in different files), but I can neither open nor view any OFFICE FILE (Word-Excel-Pdf) in any other file.
4.b. How can I create a Direct Acces to my SD card?
5-UNKNOWN ICON: There is an unknown icon on my N1 display (upper left corner). It's sort of a low dash with a downrunning arrow over it. WHAT does this mean? It is not mentioned in the Manual.
6- BLUETOOTH: Is there any way to prolong the viewing time of 120 sec?
6.a. My N1 does not receive any transmission from any other mobile phone. I have activated Bluetooth and done everything what's been asked of me, but there's NO WAY.
7. And now a possibly impossible question: Is there any way to download the digital clock the HD2, Desire or Wildfire have? The analogue clock of the N1 is "not so nice"...
Thank you very much in advance,
danadoe

Are you rooted?
I am and don't remember all the features and apps for unrooted phones. If not rooted, someone will come along.
I know of no direct access to a compass other than enabling it in Maps.
The icon sounds like a downloading symbol.
If rooted, you can run sense/desire roms that will get you the HTC flip clock, or try Beautiful Widgets from market--not sure if you must be rooted for it. Consumes battery--they all do.

Search for Astro on the market
4- As to the SD card: HOW can I access my SD card?
See 3
4.a. I can view my SD-stored pictures and listen to my SD-stored music Search Docs to Go in the market
4.b. How can I create a Direct Acces to my SD card?

5-UNKNOWN ICON:
Means something is download, put your finger on the bar at the top and drag it down
6- BLUETOOTH:

I hear people on the other end but they can't hear me.......
Hello all, I have my Nexus one for almost a year now and have not had one single problem with it. In fact, I was so confident about my phone that I took the insurance off of it. BAAAAAAAD MOOOOOOVE. Yesterday for some odd reason the microphone on my phone stopped working. People can't hear me but I can hear them. Can some tell me what to do!?!?

Really I have no idea so the only thing I can think of doing in your situation would be to factory reset and hope that fixes it because other then that it has to be hardware.
