Getting Root Access

Hi -

My name is Dave Kroon, I am an Engineer working for DTS Inc. I am trying to get the phone rooted, when I boot into recovery mode and try to flash the zip file (nexus-addon-0.1-signed) it gives me the following :

--Install / sdcard...
Finding update package....
Opening update package....
Verifying update package....
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.

I need help to sort this problem out, I need urgent help.

Do you already have root access or are you trying to flash this to acquire it? Because this is a custom ROM that requires root access to flash because it is not a Google singed zip.
