N1 got wet and now doesn't recognize the SIM

    Hey,

I'm guessing there's nothing to be done shy of sending it to tech repair, but I thought it's worth a shot - I set my phone on the table facing up, and after a bit I noticed the tabletop is wet (kittens slurped water all over it).
It was still working, I mean the screen was responsive and it looked fine but just to be on the safe side I opened the cover, took the battery, SIM and SD card out and let it dry under a fan.

Once I put everything back in it booted but it now shows:
Emergency calls only | no SIM card.

I checked and the SIM card works fine in another phone, and another SIM card that I know is ok doesn't work in the N1.

I'm pretty sure I'm not the first klutz to wet his phone, so I was wondering if there's a smart way of dealing with this without sending it back to HTC

    Thanks...

Turn it off, take the battery out, put the phone in a tub of rice and seal it. Keep it in there for a day or two and don't turn on the phone until after you let it fully sit in there for a day or two.

After that, see if the SIM still doesn't work.

If it doesn't, you'll likely have to send it back for repairs and whatnot but you may be out of luck if any of that water triggered the water damage stickers. If it did, and HTC sees it, your warranty is void.

    Best of luck.
