    Honestly, I don't know what I'm supposed to be doing with the cmd file that I downloaded. Right now I'm confused and frustrated.

    Well, sat least you have connection between your phone and pc.

    Boot into the bootloader, switch to the fastboot screen (on phone menu options), and try fastboot flashing recovery...
