for you all who are trying to go to recovery menu...
simply enter into fastboot menu by pressing VOL- and power button
    then from there select recovery..
when you see the exclamation mark sign then press power button slightly before pressing the VOl+ button.. remember there shouldn't be a longer time difference in pressing both buttons for the recovery menu only a difference of 1 or 2 milli seconds...

That's the stock recovery, which is about as much use as a chocolate teapot...

Lol yeah because it has very limited features and for the clockwork recovery you don't need any combination once your in fastboot.

Sorry to revive a semi-old thread.

I'm also having the problem that I can't access recovery mode, but I think by different means.

This phone freezes on the X splash screen (no animation) with the unlock image at the bottom if I try to boot it normally. Attempting to enter recovery mode yields the same result.

I can successfully use fastboot to flash the passion recovery image from Cyanogenmod (v2.2.1) (successfully in that the loading bars on the phone finish), but as I stated above, I can't enter the recovery menu.

I'm worried the ROM hardware is no longer working, but I'd like to try anything I can.

I think the phone got to this state while someone was trying to flash Cyanogenmod v6.

    Any thoughts?

    Have you tried:
    fastboot boot name-of-recovery.img
    ?

I have tried that before, but I just tried it again. It has the same effect as me trying to enter recovery through the hboot option: it gets frozen on that splash screen.

I have tried both of those approaches before, but I may have been doing them wrong.

For the fastboot flashing approach, I have the .zip for Cyanogenmod v6, what files do I need in order to do the flash via fastboot? (or just point me to a tut u know of)

For the passimg trick, I tried that and it froze a short ways along the 2nd or 3rd loading bar on the phone, but I may have been using the wrong .img file. Know which one I should be using?

    Thanks for the help guys
