Unhappy browser won't display https pages

I am getting very frustrated with my nexus one. Very often, when I log in to a secure website, the page is totally blank. I emailed HTC about this and they sent me instructions to clear all cached data, then reset the browser settings, take out the battery etc.

Now it's worse! Whereas before only some sites wouldn't display, now none of them will. It's a ridiculous phone with so many bugs and illogical processes. I got it instead of the iphone only because I'd like to support the underdog HTC but this phone sucks.

I emailed HTC saying their solution didn't work and they said to use a different browser. I'm using the browser THEY pre-installed and they told me to download another one.

    Can anyone help?

Try this - go to settings, wireless and network settings, mobile networks, then select access point names (APN'S) . Press menu button and create new apn. Under 'name', call it internet. Under APN, type Internet. Under username type web. Under password type web. Leave everything else blank or as is. Press menu and save. Then make sure it is selected as your apn. Hopefully that should work. It did for me.

The iPhone is a good phone, for those who don't mind Apple having more control over their device than them. The beauty of android is that you can customize so much, but this obviously means you need to persevere in learning about the phone and doing certain things yourself that might usually be done for you. Believe me, its worth it.

    Hi Floogle

Thank you so much for your reply. I did what you said and everything works perfectly now. Not sure why, as I don't understand any of this! Thanks again!

Guys sorry, been at work. Glad you got it fixed, checking your apn settings is definitely a good idea. Don't know of any other fixes for this other than wiping your cache.
