Built In Tether Function Stopped Working

    Hi,

My Nexus One had a hardware fault so I sent it back to HTC for repairs.

I had been using the Vanilla OS with root privileges and an unlocked boot loader. (I had tried some custom roms, but switched back to get froyo).
The wired tether function had always worked like a charm for me.

When I got my phone back from HTC the bootloader was locked again (meaning they either replaced the phone's innards or did a better-than-factory-reset).
I let the phone install the FRG83 update which arrived about an hour after I turned it on.

When I next tried to tether the icon went grey and it said "USB tethering error" underneath.
When I tried to enable Portable Wi-Fi it turned on but reported "error".

Has anyone had these problems? Is there anyway to get a log of what is happening? Should I factory reset, or root?

    Thanks,
    ANkh

    Hi again,

I fixed this by factory resetting the Nexus One.

Seems to be running fine now.
