Boot into recovery from power off without power button

My power button is broke. I have an app that reboots into recovery (forgot the name). Anywho, I installed a custom cyanogen mod theme and for some reason it got stuck in an infinite boot. So I rebooted into bootloader by holding down the trackball and removing the battery a couple times. It gets to the bootloader screen, but you need to use to power button to select recovery. Is there a way to select recovery without the power button? I tried holding down the trackball and no go. Anyway to boot into recovery from a cold start? Do I have an expensive brick now? :*(

Tried search and didn't see anything.

If you can get adb working:
    adb reboot recovery

Only other option I can think of is to unlock your bootloader...

Also, if you have a backup you can try clearing storage from hboot, and see if that will help you boot...

ADB doesn't work, fastboot does. But evidently fastboot is useless because of some SPL security Fastboot - CyanogenMod Wiki

When I try to flash it with a nandroid backup it says:

    sending 'system' (119693 KB)... OKAY [ 18.075s]
    writing 'system'... INFOsignature checking...
    FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)
    finished. total time: 31.743s

All I need to do is hit the enter button once and it will be fine. Of course HTC decided to make the enter button the one button that breaks on alot of nexus' (power button). I'm almost ready to break this thing open and see if i can get the power button to work just once, the warranty is already voided because it's rooted and I can't unroot because the phone won't boot.

To use fastboot to flash anything other than an official Google ROM, you need to unlock the bootloader. This will void your warranty and cannot be reversed (rooting doesn't void warranty, because it can be reversed).

Another option is to follow the unroot/restore guide here:
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki...ore_your_Nexus

You will have to reroot if you do this...

Thanks for the link and the help. If I do fastboot oem unlock, I'll be able to do fastboot flash system system.img etc no problem then?

Yup, if you unlock, you very can fastboot flash anything you want...
You can also boot from an image "fastboot boot recovery.img"
