Downgrade from Gingerbread to Froyo possible?

OK I manually updated my unrooted Nexus One from Froyo to Gingerbread and am not too thrilled. It basically works the same but there is something about the new color scheme that I am not happy with and want to know if its possible to downgrade back to Froyo? (without rooting)

I found a download of Froyo for the N1 and am wondering if it will mess up my phone if I try and downgrade it the same way I upgraded it...by renaming it to update.zip and doing the update??

You need a shipping image, not an update. You rename the file to passimg.zip and place it on the root of your SD card (not in any folder). Boot the phone into bootloader, and the phone will find the file and ask if you want to install...

The most recent shipping image is FRG33, which can be found here:

This will wipe all data from your phone, so backup as much as you need to...

    Did you try this?

    Hi,

I was wondering if Gingerbread upgrade could be affecting my phones ability to connect to the 3G network on T-mobile. So I wanted to go back to Froyo and test it out.

Did you try to doing this and how did it work? Any other suggestions?

    Thanks!

I have tried this (just for fun) and it does work for most...

However, some people get an error saying "main version is older", and for some reason this doesn't work for them.

If you download the file on your phone you won't need a cable...

I'm planning to downgrade to Froyo because of the blank screen issues in GR140. If this error does come up, can one just continue using gingerbread or will it brick the phone?

    You can keep using gingerbread...

If you get the error, you're phone will just refuse to downgrade, and keep you where you are...
