Well, I thought I was good but I'm having the same problem I used to have when I tried anything custom. The OTA update failed with

    E:No signature (573 files)
    E: Verification failed

    Zip verification failed
Zip isn't signed correctly! Installation aborted..

    Devil is in the details...

If you have the patch (40+ meg), then it will only flash from stock FRG83G.

If you have the full image (80+ meg), then it should flash over most older systems. If you flashed everything from FRG33, it should install, but if you missed anything, then it will probably abort...

Do you have stock or custom recovery?
Are you flashing a stock or rooted build?

Custom recovery. And, I'd love a version that allowed me to store my apps on my SD card. I have 16 GB now and just ordered a 32 GB card.

You need to find a rooted version if you want to run a2ext, and you should get a compatible gapps package also...

    Wipe, then flash.

You may need to toggle signature verification from within recovery (you are running Amon Ra, right?)

So, if I install a rooted version, will I have to manually install every patch or update and wait till xda has them? Is there a particular rom you can recommend and link to that has all of that? I installed
recovery-RA-passion-v2.2.1.img seems to be cyanogen. I can change if need be.recovery-RA-passion-v2.2.1.img

Depending on how "stock" the stock image is, you may be able to get away with flashing OTA updates, but doing so will lose root.

If you want to keep your phone rooted, then you have to take responsibility for the maintenance...

I downloaded the GRI40 OTA and rooted it myself (unlocked bootloader), so I can't recommend a rooted version, since I've never tried one...

Well, I already unlocked the phone so I might as well go that route. How can I get it to accept the update?

OK, I just downloaded this, ran wipe, and turned off signature verification in recovery. I get this error:
    E: Error in /sdcard/updated.zip
    (Status 7)
    Installation aborted.
