Angry Nexus one has hard reseting automatically!

    Hi Folks,

I've had my N1 since initial release on Vodafone UK and generally love my Android phone. However I seem to have been faced with unexpected hard resets, which has resulted in some data loss.

My phone has hard reset two or three times now. It has literally just done it again, for no apparent reason. One thing I can say for sure, is both occasions my battery was very low and the phone shut down as the battery was too low...does this seem to be a common problem at all?

The first time, I am sure Gingerbread had just been released. I am expecting more data loss again, I am faced with the initial start up/welcome screens now.

Any advice or help would be appreciated.

    Regards, Martin

I think you can have much more serious problems if you let your battery get too low.

Have a charger at home/work/car to be safe

I never let mine below 40%

Do you have a govenor program to reduce clock speed if too low on battery--not sure if there is one if you are not rooted

    Hi Ken,

I did think it may be related. Never letting the battery go below 40% is just not achievable really, I have a hectic lifestyle and always having a charger to hand isn't possible.

I don't have any sort of governor program, I didn't realise they were out there, or that I really needed a solution similar to this. My N1 isn't rooted by the way, so I'm not sure yet either. Are there any other similar apps, which can safely shut down before a critical battery level, without user intervention?

As an update, what is a little odd, is that although it seems to have hard reset, I am just going through initial account sync, whilst doing this, my Swype keyboard was still being referred to, Android kept trying to load this as the default keyboard and I was receiving a force close message. I have now selected Android keyboard...but still odd, this was retained!

Not sure on keyboard, unless there is a default choice--I am rooted and running various custom roms so choices may differ.

Not sure on app for governor on unrooted phones--maybe google--or someone will jump in.

40% may be unrealistic for you, maybe 25%. Not sure at what % problems happen. I think dude or someone else on this forum had a similar issue and may have first hand advice.
