Can't update Nexus One - would like to return to factory

    Hello,

I purchased a Nexus one from my cousin, he is not sure what method he used to root. Every time I use the phone it says an update is available, then it fails in the verification.

    I've tried :
    - factory hard reset
    - manual update via SD card
    - clear system cache and manual update

I'm fairly decent tech wise, but am quite new to the Android world. I've trying to get this thing to update for the last month on and off. Now I really want to update 2.3.4 since I'm an Arduino fan.

I just want the thing back to factory so I can get normal Android updates. How can I revert my phone back to factory ?

    thanks.

    Android Version : 2.2
    Baseband : 32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.12_7
    kernel : 2.6.32.9-27227-g3c98b0d android build@apa26#1
    Build : FRF91

You need the FRG33 shipped image.
Rename it to PASSIMG.zip, place it on the root of your SD (not in a folder), and boot into the bootloader (hold volume down and power for a few second to boot).

Your phone should find the file and ask if you want to install it...

    Hello,

    I downloaded :
    update-nexusone-FRG33-stock-radio-signed.zip

renamed it PASSIMG.zip and put it on the root of my SD card. HBOOT finds it, a load bar appears on the upper right side, the load bar fills up, says its CHECKING .... then thats it. It doesn't ask to install it. HBOOT just returns to its normal screen.

    What am I missing ?

The HBOOT on top says :
    - NEXUSONE PVT SHIP S-ON
    - HBOOT-0.33.0012
    - MICROP-0b15
    - TOUCH-PANEL-SYNT0103
    - RADIO-4.06.00.12_7

I appreciate the help, thank you.

    That's a radio, not a factory image...

    Try this:

Success ! It updated successfully to 2.2. When I rebooted it said there was an update, it restarted and updated. Now I'm on 2.3.4

Thank you so much. Now instead of wasting my time trying to update it, I can waste my time playing with it !

If you're still on 2.2, you probably have a carrier tweaked version of Android. You can follow the same guide above to get to a completly stock version of Android. Your phone should then update itself to 2.3.4.

If it doesn't update within a few hours, post back, and someone will walk you through the manual update process...
