-This is the third Nexus One and fourth phone I’ve used this sim card in.So in summary so far:
-The first Nexus One was owned by my friend and he asked for it back, I then switched my sim card to my very old (and very crappy) Moto Cliq XT
-The sim card worked completely fine on both of those phones.
-I bought a refurbished and unlocked Nexus One from ebay and it worked completely fine except the call-speaker did not work so I returned it.
-I bought a second used and unlocked Nexus One from a different seller on ebay, this one I can’t get data connection on at all.
-I do NOT have this phone rooted.
-My sim card has worked fine on three other phones (2 Nexus Ones, and one Moto Cliq XT) except this one, in which I can’t get data connection. I can make outgoing calls fine. I get full bars, but they are white, not green.
Here is what the seller told me:
-He used the phone on AT&T and it worked fine, BUT he had no data plan so he never got data connection anyways. He used his home wifi to connect to the internet. He could make outgoing calls. This phone has no reliable history of having a data connection.
A summary of my issues and the things I’ve done in attempt to fix them or check to see if they are in fact issues:
-I wondered if maybe this is a carrier issue, but I checked the PB# and it is PB99100 so it is a T-Mobile phone.
-I’ve done a factory reset a few times now and it has done nothing to remedy the situation.
-In “About Phone” > “Status”> it lists these things
- My phone number: unknown
-Mobile Network Type: UMTS
-Service status: In Service
-Roaming: Not Roaming
-Mobile Network State: Disconnected
-Wi-Fi MAC Address: Unavailable
-Bluetooth Address: Unavailable
-It says the system is currently up to date.
-Under “Mobile Network Settings” Data is enabled.
-Enabling data roaming does nothing.
-Switching to using only 2G networks does nothing.
-It won’t find anything when I try and search for network operators.
Running a ping test creates a fail as IP address and Host are unreachable
-Switching between WCDMA preferred and WCDMA only does nothing
-The radio is turned on
-Refreshing and updating the SMSC does nothing
-the radio band is set on automatic, I tried setting it to US only and that did nothing
-in the menu options, the button says “Enable data connection” meaning it is disabled, no amount of trying seems to let me enable it
In my research I've referenced these two posts:
Neither seem to really answer my questions. I'm very worried this is an unfixable hardware issue and I will have to send this phone back.
I’m at my wits end, I love the Nexus One and just want a phone that works after a month of this back and forth with two different sellers. I’m off to a conference on Tuesday and will now only have my old Moto Cliq XT as my main source of communication, which likes to restart randomly while I am looking things up or talking to people. Any help is appreciated!
