Question Should I ask for new one?

ok, this is more of a hardware problem. Anyway, my battery cover (or maybe the phone itself) creaks when i press here:

and there's a large(ish) gap between the cover and the phone here:

So, should I ask for a new Nexus One or should I wait until people start selling replacement battery covers and hope that fixes it?

LOL at my epic Photoshop skillz!!!!! :rofl3:

UPDATE: OK, UPS are coming to pick it up an a few hours, they say it is wear & tear. Yeah, right!!! I have only had this phone for a few weeks, it is certainly meant to last for a long time. Like some bits of the phone are Teflon coated, some bits of the phone are actually made of metal (not cheap crap) and of course a glass screen (not plastic).

This phone is definately built to last, but, just not the one I have... If I get charged for having it repaired (it's still under warranty, not rooted) I certainly won't let 'em get away with it...

I have a small shift in mine at the bottom, but don't worry about it much. I wonder how many of these "small" issues there are.

I personally believe he should change it if he is not happy, my belief is; if you bought something and it has a minor / major defect then should you feel embarrassed to ask for a fix, replacement or money back...

Hey! if I buy a brand new car with a minor defect /s, I would ask them to look into it. I know nothing perfect, but you paid good money for it.

ok, thanks for all the replies, i'm not really too bothered about the 2nd pic, the creaking is slightly annoying though... i'll open a support ticket and see what they say.

I'm still open to more opinions, do you think getting a new battery cover if/when one comes out will fix it?

Try the old folded business card on top of the battery trick. I had to do this for several of my BlackBerry phones when the doors creaked. Solved the issue in those cases.

Ummm..no...they'll want you to either cross-ship ($$ deposit), or have you ship them the current unit, and you have to wait for them to receive/inspect and ship out a new unit.
Hmmm... I agree with 'bishop6' and 'getburnt'... I'll ask HTC if i need to pay anything.

Besides, it should really be free to send it away because it's still in warranty?

i got mine swapped for a gap between the front bezel and bottom cover. they put a temp charge on your cc and clear it when they receive the old unit, but you will only receive the phone, no battery, box, accessories. i'm arguing this case now, mainly for the box.
