    Battery Drain Problem...It's fixed. (workaround)

I read some posts on the web and here and tried the following. Today i have a full battery bar (about 85% full). It usually drops down to 5% and I had to charge every day.

    Here are the steps.

Download Advanced Task Manager and install
Download Handcent (for messaging) and install
Set handcent to be default messaging.
Run advanced task manager and kill the default messaging app provided by HTC.

This is a workaround for the battery drain problem until google/htc address the issue.

What happens if you use Google Voice for SMS?
Would GV run in the background too?

I am not sure about GV and messaging. But as long as you kill the default Messaging (the green robot picture) from advanced task manager, you are on your way to fuller battery and not charging so often.

Without Advanced Task Manager the app cannot be shut down? There is no way to quit the app from the phone's menu?

I thought all you had to do was turn off the default messaging app's notification.

turning off the notification only turns of the notification bar if you get messages. the messaging app still is running. So whenever i turn off/on the phone, i just kill the messaging app. today, with full screen and bluetooth, i had 50% juice towards the end of the day. (lots of txt messaging and also 30 minutes of phone calls)

Do you have to kill the default messaging app every time you turn the phone on?

I do kill the app once I turn on the phone. It's a quick process. Note that this is just a bandaid to remedy the battery drain until HTC/Android address the battery problem.
Also, I disabled Gtalk since I don't use their chat. Go to Talk (Gtalk) and click Menu and turn off Auto Run.
