    Phone won't vibrate!

My phone won't vibrate when I get a new text and it's on "vibrate". However, I still feel the shake when I unlock the phone. Anyone know what could be wrong?

EDIT: It still vibrates when I get a call. :S

Are you using a third party SMS app or just the stock?

    Just the stock.

Not sure then really. I'm not sure if you're willing to give this a try but try Handcent SMS app from the Market. It's quite an upgrade over the stock application. Turn off all notifications on your stock SMS app after Handcent is installed (or else you get double notifications) and see if vibrate still works on Handcent.

    Hey Sergio,

It's not obvious, but you can set vibrate under settings within the Messaging application itself.

Have you set the vibrate on the 'SMS' settings? You need to set it there to vibrate. Setting it on the 'Sound & Display' doesn't work on SMS

Yep, that's it. Totally dumb that the system settings can't override any other settings. Why even have them there? Grr.

Actually, it makes far more sense for individual applications to override the global settings. Global settings (in just about any system) are "defaults". Then, you set your various applications to provide fine tuning.

Open your messaging app, hit menu then settings, then notifications, set your vibrate options and enjoy! xD
