OK just a thought here, has anyone checked if their service center number is updated on the phone? I know some people may not know how to do it so here we go.

You first want to pull up the dial pad and enter *#*#4636#*#*. This will pull up a menu of options on the phone. In the display screen, go to "phone information" and scroll to bottom where you see "SMSC" and the box to the right should be blank. You want to press refresh. At this point you should see "+12063130004" in the box. tap on update followed by the home button to return to the main screen and power cycle the phone.

From here out, you should not have the issues again however things do happen unfortunately.

    hope this helps

Thanks for the info. If it works, you may have saved quite a few headaches.
    Bought the AT&T N1.
