Task killer apps bad for phone?

FAQ: Why You Shouldn’t Be Using a Task Killer with Android Geek For Me – Android CDMA Sprint Hero

Good article makes a lot of valid points, up to now I have been using advanced task killer and thought it worked great. Now I don't know what to think I'll keep my task manager till I can be convinced otherwise.

Anyways what are your guys thoughts?

I use ATK too, but I don't go crazy with it. I do have apps that if left running slow my phone down. Or sometimes I just have too many open that I don't need. Sure Android "garbage collects" these but not always as fast as I'd like.

well, after reading that it didn't seem to make much sense.
When I start the phone it has about 16 apps running. I don't ever see them close. You can't say they aren't doing anything cause I will get down to about 20m of mem and when I kill the tasks I don't want running I go to over 100....

First of all, I use ES Task Manager not so much to inadvertently kill apps, but to stop some apps from syncing/connecting to the internet when I am data roaming in a foreign country - so I'm not categorically against task managers.

There is absolutely no benefit to having excess memory if it is not being used. It does not make the phone operate faster or better.
