    N1 native text app

    Hi all,

Recently ditched Handcent and went back to native text apps.

While composing a new SMS, I entered the recipient's name and a list of options for that name popped up. I recognise all the numbers except one, which is not a phone number (5-6 digit). I thought it was my phone book but I can't seem to find that number anywhere in my phone or google contacts.

    Any idea what's that?

Could it be a zip code of one of your contacts?
or, maybe your carrier sent an update to your phone and the Nexus One kept that as a contact?

Nope, I just found out the numbers corresponds to the numbers of traditional phones i.e. 2=A,B,C 3=D,E,F and so on. So typing "john" would show "John (9639)", along with other names that has "john" in in.

Then the question, why is the phone behaving like this and how to get rid of that "feature"?

Errhh... T9 is using number pads to "guess" the word. In this case, it's a QWERTY keyboard. Why would T9 do the "reverse" thing?

Will try to disable T9 and see what goes...

You can't disable T9, the Nexus keyboard doesn't have it
