    do we just zip the "update" folder so it becomes update.zip then copy it to the sd card?

    did that exactly but I'm getting the error

    E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command

    --install from sdcard...
    Finding update package...
    Opening update package...
    Verifiying update package...
    E:signature verification failed...
    Installation aborted.

    I zipped the update folder on my Mac. Should I do it on Windows?

    I got that too, just rename the file "update" and then copy to the SD card root.

    i downloaded the "update" folder on my mac then zipped it so it became update.zip

    do you mean i rename it to "update" after zipping it?
