Had no issues with Froyo so far, absolutely loving the tethering to my macbook with it just working flawlessly and the speed increase. Very happy and when the final build comes I'll just apply that update too. No biggie

    I agree.

    That's likely.

My student who works at Qualcomm (makers of Nexus chipset) says they are debugging 2.2 as we speak. I assume the eventual OTA update to 2.2 will be a tweaked version of what's being tested. In fact there may even be significant changes.

Well there's been an offical response. That was indeed not the final update. If you did download the unoffical update, you'll still get the OTA.

    BTW that thread is closed.

I know. That's why i posted your link. I guess the mod thought it was another "was that the real froyo" thread. But you had actual evidence. Not the mods fault though. There are a lot of repeat threads.

Ya guess so...but still some good news. So even if you did install the froyo update, you could still get the OTA if it is different.

To me it makes no sense to post real news from Google in a speculation thread.

You can be sure of one thing, it won't happen again.

    Google Employee ---
You will still get the automatic notification if the official release is a newer version than the one you have, so don't sweat...but I'd highly recommend waiting for our official release
I was getting worried that since I updated to 2.2 manually my phone would check if I had 2.2 and not update me to the official OTA version from Google.

This response from the Google employee alleviated all of my concern's now so I am a happy man :D

The quote from google doesn't exactly say the release was not final. It just says the ota rollout wasn't the official rollout.
