Issues manually installing to FRF83 from FRF50

I'm currently running frf50 rooted and trying to get frf83 installed. When I select recovery mode my phone never gets to the exclamation/triangle android screen. It goes to the regular recovery screen with no option to apply update from SD card. Anyone else have this issue of the phone skipping the exclamation screen?

My main concern is if this will keep me from updating future unofficial manual updates.

I'm rooted. I thought rooted phones have to manually update b/c OTA doesn't work anymore.

I've got the same problem. Any good news?

Now I feel regret if I have to manually update firmware everytime.

I just ended up going with Cyanogen 6 RC2 (FRF91). The rom manager makes it easy to do updates as well. So far very happy with it. My only issue, but not sure if its related is Better Keyboard FC's alot but works once I bring it up again.

Could you please tell me how to do that? I'm on FRF50. I'm experiencing exactly the same things as your first post. Thanks much!
