    GenieRefreshService

I know the GenieRefreshService is for the built-in News/Weather widget, but I'm not using it and it still showing in the running services even after I kill it. I'm using a 3rd party weather widget and the smooth calendar widget, could that be causing it to run?

Try adding the stock News and Weather widget to your homescreen. Then go into it's Settings > Refresh settings and un-check 'Auto-refresh'. (It should be checked, causing the service to run)

Then delete the widget from your homescreen and go kill the Genie service.

And you're safe to kill it... 3rd party apps don't use Genie.
