Some Problems with my Nexus One

I have just started using my Nexus One in earnest and I have some big problems with it.

The first is even with the ring volume set highest I can't really hear it when it's ringing in my pants pocket - especially if it's in the pouch that comes with it. Even when it's not in the pouch and the ring volume set at highest, the volume is decidedly muted. Also the pouch tends to absorb the vibrations of the vibrator.

Secondly the sound quality of the other end's speech is not as good as other mobiles.

Are these problems common to all Nexus phones or is it just mine?

They are all good. The most popular and stable would be Cyanogen.

Phone in your pouch in your pocket is going to be hard to hear no matter the phone. However, the noise cancelling mic works really well for me and my N1 is the clearest cell phone I have ever had.

When choosing a custom ROM and later a custom kernel, make sure you notice whether the kernel uses Audio Boost. That really ups the loud factor for your phone, but some people complain that things start to get distorted.

And of course, right now I'm loving the eViL NXSense ROM 1.20, check my sig for link.

My Nexus has good sound quality but the volume on aps is pretty low. It's most noticeable when I play music.
