This is a discussion on Gingerbread Thread. All things related. within the Nexus One forums, part of the Google Phones category; Originally Posted by SliceBurgSlim GB is getting pushed to AOSP Right Now!! Can anyone confirm this?...
According to the Google developer who actually announced that the AOSP code was ready for Gingerbread; he said that the released code will work perfectly with Nexus One apart from the Camera app.
Having said that, the guys at XDA developers have created a new ROM based on the code but as he said, camera does not work. We still really need to wait for an official release or a dedicated developer who can get the AOSP code working perfectly for Nexus One. This is unlikely since Google have blatently already made this ROM, most developers will just wait for the new Nexus One ROM to be released then edit it to their liking rather than build from scratch.
So much for my prediction of Fri 17th for gingerbread release! It MUST be before Christmas otherwise Google will loose a lot of loyal fans!
Nothing is perfect, but we must not lose faith in perfection. If we did, everything would be a whole lot worse than it is now!
tested. it works fine but as said, no camera, no google apps, no market access... cant wait for the updated code !
You guys are all wet on the release date. Google doesn't want to make the same mistake it did with the n1. They want to sell phones and that means we won't get an update until the anniversary of the n1 at the earliest. it will definitely be after christmas.
I've been to best buy and the nexus S is not exactly flying off the shelves. So my prediction is january 4th.
Well if that is true then I think allot of people will be pist including me and have been saying I will root after gingerbread but if I don't have an official OTA of gingerbread by x-mass or more like December 27th (I will be busy on the 25th and 26th) I am rooting and by then we will have cm7 so I will be happy to get that instead.
