I've been through one cycle with a failed power button. HTC replaced it promptly for me at the time. But I suppose, if I ever have problems again, I'm not sure HTC will be able to replace the N1 for me, and I'll have to root so I can start the phone from the trackball. Not good, but it will keep it going a little while longer.

I'm glad I'm not having that issue now.

Yes htc will replace the phone for you again your still under warranty (as long as you haven`t rooted yet) and even if you root you will still have the warranty if you do it with super one click.

    Prevention is better than cure

I'm protecting myself with "Widget Locker" and their any key wake feature...

i use the vol keys and track ball in equal measure... and use the power key only to shutdown and reboot

May God & Google continue to Bless our N1s

LockEnabler is good for putting the phone to sleep (if a strangle-hold doesn't work, lol)

    Power button not working

I had the same problem about 3 months ago, I sent it to HTC for repairs under warranty. I got it back in 2 days.
About a month ago I starting to have the same issue with the power button. I called HTC and I am sending the phone back for repairs for the second time.I will post the results once I hear back from them.
I purchase an application called Lockbot pro so I didn't have to use the power button to lock/wake up the phone and it works great. They also have a free version but I believe It does not have a lock widget.

    my power button is dead!

I was able to reboot using the plug in/ remove battery multiple times technique. Does anyone know how to contact HTC and where I should send the phone? Also what are the apps that allow me to use other buttons to turn on screen?

    Thanks

Is there another way to turn on my nexus one? The power button has slowly gotten worse and worse, and I cant get my phone to turn on now...
I actually haven't read this thread, so sorry if off topic, but I did just replace my N1 under warranty for this very problem. So, I guess if anyone is keeping tally, add another under the 'broken power button' category.
