How to reset phone back to stock

I bought a Nexus from someone who had rooted the phone and it is running a custom rom, I don't know what this means I just know that's what I was told.
How can I just reset the phone back to stock Froyo and remove all of the custom rom's?

Depends on how it was rooted.

Do you see an unlocked lock icon at the bottom of the screen when you boot up?

Also...why would you want to go back to stock?

I rebooted and there is a lock icon that is shown as still locked when booting up. Also, the reason I want to revert back to stock is because I'm not to savvy when it comes to the detailed stuff about the phone.

Ok well sounds to me like your bootloader is unlocked. There is no such icon like the one you described. Its either an unlocked lock or nothing at all.

You will never be able to return to true stock because of the bootloader being unlocked.

As for Roms, there are plenty of people here that are happy to help you understand the process.

That's def a matter of opinion in regards to stock. This MIUI rom Im on makes stock look Silly.

Rooting takes 10 minutes. Hardly any time at all really.

I just prefer the stock because I know how it works. The cyanogenmod may be nice, but there are too many options for me to learn right now.

You could always just flash a stock rom. If it were me tho I'd wait until GB drops
